Hopefully it dies down soon and all the closet racists goes back to their closets. Saw a miserable old cunt tell a man to “Sod off back to Poland” for not speaking English.

Which was a bit random since the guy was speaking Welsh. Surprising (or maybe not) how many people don’t know that Welsh is a language.

I’m in the US and honestly found the immigrant rheteric around the Poles in UK odd. Not that we’re any better (not by a long shot), I just thought they were...

I did have to laugh out loud during a story I heard on NPR this afternoon: They were interviewing a Pole who had taken a poll of Poles! The topic itself wasn’t very lighthearted, just that string together made me laugh.

[Disclaimer My Grandfather was Polish (Name was Levandowski) ]

I’ve worked with many in the immigrant community from Eastern Europe: Romania, Poland, Serbia (we have the largest Serbian community outside of Serbia in my city) and have found them nearly without exception to be incredibly hardworking and honest putting most others to shame.

Here’s an anecdote. My house was built by Irishmen. It wasn’t built very well and the roof leaked. The Irishmen came back, went on the roof, made some noise and the leak got worse. They tried to charge us, we said fuck off and they went bankrupt.

So with the leak getting worse. We got some proper English lads. I mean for what they charge they must be the best builders in the world. The leak got so much worse, my ceiling collapsed.

Not willing to give up on my fellow countrymen we got another set of lads in. Great news the leak didn’t get worse. In fact nothing had changed what so ever. They sent us an invoice, we sent them our solicitor’s number. We never heard from them again.

Well you know 3 is the magic number. So got another set of lads. Unfortunately these professional roofers were lacking in only one item and therefore couldn’t start work. That item was the ladder. Yeah. Roofers with no ladder.

So at my wit’s end, I asked my Polish neighbour who had just built an extension to his home with his friends in their part time in the space of month to have a look. He asked for £20 for some tiles and filler and said it will be done by the afternoon. It was done by lunch. 8 years later the ceiling hasn’t leaked once.

I LOVE THE POLISH.
